Packing Tips

Suggestions for a Seamless Move:

Many people will be packing up their belongings and moving into new homes this year. Most all of the families will be taking household items that are very valuable, fragile, and breakable. When valued possessions must be moved, proper technique will keep them safe. Here are some expert packing techniques that will help you to keep your valueables in good condition.

  •  Plan on giving yourself ample time to pack and prepare for moving.
More time allows for packing to be the less stressful and more manageable.

  •  Before you start packing your items, sort out which items you want to keep,
throw away, or sell. Moving is an excellent time to get rid of clutter and make
     room for new things.

  •  Plan which items you will pack together. Pack items that you don't use often
first. Pack items of equal weight together but be careful not to overload boxes.

  •  Make sure to always use proper packing material. We suggest packing tape,
which is very strong and wide. Masking tape is not recommended because it is
not strong  enough to support the weight of boxes.

  •  Label the contents on the outside of all boxes, along with the rooms they should
be placed in at your new home. Make sure to write Fragile on all appropriate
boxes, along with arrows indicating the upright position.

  •  Make sure that essential items, such as toiletries, utensils, and clothes, are
marked in boxes that read “open first” on the outside. Pack these boxes in
the moving truck last, as they will be the items you want to open first.
